Heritage and Tourism International offers extensive consultancy experience, academic excellence and hands-on expertise. Members of the HTI team, working both jointly and under their respective TEAM and OA umbrellas, have been involved in a wide range of challenging and complex projects. Here are just a few of the highlights…

Daming Palace Heritage Park, China

Working with the Xi'an Qujiang Daming Palace Heritage Area Protection and Reconstruction Office (an agency of the Xi'an city government in China), HTI produced a Development, Management and Marketing Plan for the Daming Palace Heritage Park and are currently helping to implement it, supporting the local team up until the site is open in October 2010.

Pamukkale / Hierapolis, Turkey (World Heritage Site)

Provided expert advice to the Ministry of Culture and Tourism on the preparation of a Management Plan. This was the first of its kind to be written for a Turkish World Heritage Site, providing a model for the future. This was a World Bank supported project.

Amber Communities Trust, Rajasthan, India

Provided advice on adding heritage to a portfolio aimed at delivering an integrated and sustainable community development programme covering education, environment, health and heritage.

Darwin at Downe (proposed World Heritage Site)

The production of a visitor management and recreational carrying capacity plan for the home of Charles Darwin, Downe village and the surrounding countryside, to support the application for World Heritage Site Status by Bromley Borough Council and partners.

Eton College, UK

Produced an education pack which was reviewed in The Times Education Supplement as a ‘vast and thorough resource’. The pack is a valuable aid to inform young people about cultural and natural heritage.

Palace Complex, Patan, Nepal (World Heritage Site)

Provided project management and training to a local team surveying this World Heritage Site. As the buildings have been subject to intermittent earthquake damage, the survey serves as a permanent record and also informs a proposed programme of restoration. Funded by UNESCO.

Woolwish Arsenal Regeneration Partnership, UK

A Europe-wide exchange of ideas and experience to raise awareness, formulate, and publish a Model of Best Practice for the regeneration of Brownfield Heritage.

The Roman City of Zeugma, Turkey

A major international collaboration incorporating UK, French, Italian and Turkish teams for the Turkish Ministry of Culture and Tourism. Advised on a Development Plan for a museum and archaeological park aimed at encouraging tourism to the region.

Planarch 2, Review of Heritage Provision for EIAs

A Europe-wide programme aimed at setting best practice standards for cultural heritage issues in the planning process. An appraisal of cultural heritage standards in Environmental Impact Assessments (EIAs) in the UK.

Heritage Interpretation Training, Bulgaria and Spain

A series of training courses and workshops aimed at helping to protect key heritage sites and developing them for public access and educational use.

Marketing the Natural Environment of the North West, UK

A study for the North West Development Agency to show how the environmental assets of the region can be better marketed as an aid to tourism development and to enhance the overall image of the north west of England.
